Y'all. Time FLIES with a newborn! The past 10 weeks have been "blissfully chaotic," as one of my dear friends describes it. Bennett—who I fondly call B-Dubs (Bennett Wesley) or B-Sting—is doing great. We're struggling with the 45-minute intruder at naps, but he slept through the night for the first time this past week! Improvement.
Wow, it's been over a year since I last posted! A whirlwind of things have happened since then. Here's the quick and dirty:
- I started back up at my day job developing eLearning courses for businesses in Dallas, including Fossil (awesome company, by the way).
- We moved from Fort Worth to the Dallas suburbs where my husband is in private practice as a family doctor alongside his father and two other partners who started the practice 30 years ago.
- I GOT PREGNANT. And will be quitting my day job, again, to stay at home full time.
Need I say more than what these pictures communicate?
Seems pretty obvious in the first image that these veggies need a water spritz. The beets are dry and lack the luster produced by the light bounce in the second image. But if you're a food photography newbie, you're quickly learning that what looks obvious post shoot was not as obvious to you during the shoot.
Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going swimmingly. The other day I was perusing my photo gallery and noticed it features a lot of desserts. No surprise, really, as desserts are one of my favorite things to photograph. The colors, textures, and joyful feelings desserts conjure means I just can't stay away! But any good photographer knows she has to push herself beyond what's comfortable.
Happy Friday! After a long week, I can't think of a better way to spend my Friday night than at home with my husband watching a movie, wrist deep in a large bowl of salted caramel popcorn. As of late, we've been eating this stuff like crazy, and it's dangerously easy to make.
Hey, party people. Recovering well from the holidays? I know the last thing you need right now is more sweets. And I'm sorry. I just couldn't help myself baking these pretty vanilla cupcakes with raspberry buttercream. I made them for a couple of friends' birthdays we celebrated last night, and (naturally) I spent the afternoon snapping photos using colorful, shabby chic-esque props.
Happy New Year, everyone! In light of the season of fresh starts, I'm introducing typography into my food photos, which you can expect to see more of in my portfolio. I've been pinning all kinds of typography-meets-food photography examples on one of my newest Pinterest boards, and let me tell you—serious, serious inspiration.
Speaking of the new year, I'm currently booking clients, so if you need a food photographer, contact me. I'd love to chat about your project.
